Allegrini

Dense and deep ruby red in color, Palazzo della Torre is loaded with luscious aromas of currant, blackberry and licorice, followed by hints of raisins and plums. Full-bodied and rich, with firm yet juicy tannins, it is a classic accompaniment to grilled or roasted meats and barbecued ribs.

Wine Advocate

Substantial as well as full-bodied is the 2003 Palazzo della Torre IGT, a blend of 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Sangiovese, all aged in oak ovals and smaller barrels for 15 months. It reveals intense herb-infused, black cherry fruit interwoven with notes of white chocolate, mocha, and almonds. Spicy, rich, medium to full-bodied, and dense with no hard edges, this finely tuned red should drink well for 3-4 years.

Score: 88. —Robert Parker, June 2006.

Wine Spectator

Fresh, almost sweet blackberry and vanilla on the nose, following through to a medium-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a cut-wood character. Balanced finish. Corvina, Rondinella and Sangiovese. Best after 2006. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Score: 87. September 30, 2006.
