Grgich Hills
Pure, concentrated fruit is the driving force behind this powerhouse Cabernet Sauvignon, marking the evolution of the Grgich Hills style toward riper and richer wines. Our trademark balance and elegance frames this fruit, integrating smooth, structured tannins and complementary food-friendly acidity to form a seamless whole. Black cherry and black currants, along with hints of cola, anise, cedar, and mint dominate the bouquet. On the palate, the Yountville Selection is rich and intense, with dark fruit, spice, chocolate, black walnuts, and undertones of cedar and leather combining into an extraordinarily complex yet pleasurable wine. A persistent finish of fruit, spice, and supple tannins completes the package and indicates this wine - though delicious now - will only improve with age.
Wine Enthusiast
One of the last releases from the class of ’01, this is a cellar candidate. It is a big, rich, unctuous wine, with gobs of black currant flavors wrapped up tight in a blanket of dusty tannins and new oak. You could drink it tonight with a great steak, but it will hold and improve for at least 10 years.
