Quinta do Vale D. Maria
Quinta Vale D. Maria 2003 Douro Reds are incredibly deep in color, violet, dark red and purple, have a tremendous concentration of mature dark red fruit aromas, with a very typical predominance and blackberries, black cherries and plums. The ageing in cask is concentrating the original mature tannins of the wine and has smoothened its power, originating very powerful, though very elegant wines with great balance and finesse and a very long and fruity finish. A Great Year indeed.
Wine Spectator
Deep, rich and ripe, with impressive concentration and length. This has loads of dark plum, dark cherry and dark chocolate flavors that are nicely fringed by spiced meat and smoke notes. Full-bodied, balanced and pure-tasting, with a mineral- and spice-filled finish. Tempting now. Best from 2006 through 2011.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
