Revolution Shiraz 2006

SKU 7518400019

The grapes for Revolution come from the most revered sub-region of McLaren Vale, known as Seaview. This sub-region is where the best reds to come out of McLaren Vale are grown. The vines are relatively young at 5 years, but due to the extreme lack of soil nutrients & carefully regulated deficit irrigation practices, the vines are already producing voluptuous, fl avor packed & rich fruit, perfect for Revolution. The vines are hand pruned and crop at around 3 tons per acre.

Wine AdvocateThe 2006 Shiraz "Revolution" was fermented with native yeasts and spent 9 months in stainless steel and two-year-old hogsheads. Purple-colored, this "terroir-driven" wine has a complex perfume of earth, mineral, sausage, game, truffle, and blueberry that borders on kinky. This leads to a full-bodied, plush, sweet, dense wine with exquisite balance and length. Drink this excellent value over the next 6-8 years.

International Wine CellarInky cherry and blackberry scents are given depth by espresso, dark chocolate and smoked meat. Ripe, dense and chewy, with weighty cassis and plum fl avors. Takes a dry turn on the finish, showing solid tannins and a slow-mounting kirsch quality. Give this brooding shiraz some air of you're opening it any time soon.

Wine EnthusiastComes out of the chute a bit tarry and rubbery, but seems to come around with some time in the glass, offering a lush, dense texture and flavors of coffee and black olive that finally show some berry shadings on the finish.

Wine SpectatorHas a smoky edge to the dark berry flavors. Finishes a bit hot, with hints of licorice and pepper. Best after 2008. 2,800 cases made.
